Researchers tell us that ONLY between 5% and 25% of jobs in the job market are advertised to the public. While the numbers tend to vary from report to report, all experts agree that posted jobs only represent “the tip of the iceberg”of the entire job market. Job huntingThis means that if your job search campaign merely consists of responding to job postings, you are likely missing the mark.

Job search strategies have changed over time and networking has become even more critical in finding a meaningful job. I suggest that you should still check job postings, but you’ll only want to spend between 5% and 25% of your job search time with ads. Between 75% and 95% of your time should be spent pursuing the “hidden job market”, which can only be reached through networking.
